World Cup Roundup: Morehouse and Meinhardt Top Out Results

Tim Morehouse fenced his way to the quarterfinals of the Istanbul world cup in Turkey on January 16th. He placed 6th, losing to Romania’s Gelu Florin Zalomir 15-12. Meanwhile, Gerek Meinhardt fenced in the men’s foil cup in Copenhagen and finished 9th. Tomer Or of Israel was his ouster in a 15-13 bout. Or would lose in the next round and finish 6th. On his blog, Tim details the tactical thinking that turned a 12-13 deficit into a 15-13 ticket into the quarter-finals. The post includes video time stamps as well so you can see the actions Tim refers to. That post is a good read into the mind of a competitive fencer.
