For those of you who could not attend

    1. USA Fencing is bringing Vet team to Summer Nationals in 2018. Format is under discussion - particularly having a cumulative age minimum to help create opportunities for older vets to participate. Will create a separate thread for discussion on this.

    2. Vet Combined will seed only by rating, not by points.

3 Portland December NAC will include demonstration events in V80MF and V80ME

    4. Discussion of how to get 40 year olds engaged in national Vet Events and publicizing the fact that points earned in the last year of V40 will roll up to V50 and help seeding.

    5. Discussion of how USA Fencing chooses participants for Pan Ams. Rolling points are used but this is problematic because the highest category is 60+ and both 60's and 70's are vying for these spots.

    6. For Worlds in Maribor we will have a chef de mission and a team manager. Rita Comes will fulfill the first role and Jen Gallagher the second. We will have an armorer.

    7. Vet Team will get warm ups again.

    Special thanks to Jen Gallagher!

In previous years we said "team captain". I guess that wasn't European enough. Better to use a term that makes it sound like a cook in a church. :D

Hi thank you for the detailed recap of the meeting. I don't see any info about Pan Am selection criteria anywhere on the US fencing website. The last I saw is from March 2017 which stated: "The 2017 Pan American Youth and Veteran Championships will be held from July 23-30 at the University of the Virgin Islands in St. Thomas. Selection dates and criteria will be posted soon." Anyone know where more info can be found? Thanks in advance.

Maybe this belongs on a separate thread. Is there a list of international vet events including Pan Ams locations and dates for 2017-2018 season yet?

my understanding from my friends in the V60 is this is exactly why V40 is so slim - there's no world team for V40. Although I don't think that's the real reason.

    V40
    - Kids / Spouse stuff
    - House upkeep
    - Work

    V60
    - Grandkids / Spouse who actively push you out the door
    - Retirement

    What'd I miss?

V40 still ambitious about competing in the opens, from my experience.

OK, so who will be the 'chef de mission' now?
