When clicking on USA Fencing's Events Regional & Info, events don't have links.
To get access to the event calendars, you have to log in to your profile first. Yes, I know it's not the best approach, but there's a way to get to it.
Agreed. This file has never had links. it's always just been for informative. Log in and click on the events tab of the member section.
That being said... the sorting for the events in the members section stinks. It's really too bad that they won't let you pick a radius area to search for (like Fred has), or even pick a division or region to sort (like Fred has). I'm not really interested in sifting through regional tournaments in far off parts of the country every time i want to look for the events I can travel to.
Amyone else notice that it’s no longer optional to list your coach along with your club? Cannot register for October NAC without naming a coach...
I think everyone should name Justin Meehan as their coach and see what happens.
I'm naming Yoda.
i may have heard from someone who learned at summer nats that moving event registration to US Fencing's scope is part of remaking it into a professional organization run and staffed by professionals.
just what I heard, and it was 2nd hand, and i'm probably not explaining it as well as what I heard.
Is that like "US Fencing is a business now"?
Prelude to charging for additional credentials for family members and other spectators?
(not that I am not aware of any plan for this)
There is a plan for that, they’ve discussed it in board meetings.
Is it mandatory for regional events to have results, either live or via FRED? I know we can derive them from points lists post-facto, but if the National office site isn't going to provide that capability, isn't that a giant step backward in transparency for those events?
Log in. Select tournament. Click "Details". On tournament's page, right side is "Important Links" where you'll find "Live Results".
Ah, got it. So some organizers *can* do it, and some folks *might* be able to find it.
Any social media organizing happening?
A major problem is that the registration system still has bugs. If you go to the DivIWE registrations for the October NAC, you'll see that fencers can be registered twice in one event. Note that all of the information is identical for both of Nguyen's entries, even the USFA membership number. The fact that this is even possible is a major design flaw that existed last season and still hasn't been fixed.
Will she be assigned to two pools?
Maybe the bug where the same fencer can be registered twice in one event also included letting them pay twice for the same event. That helps offset the other bug where the system has undercharged for some registrations.
Maybe there are two Kaylin Nguyens. Like
They must be identical twins and so the USFA gave them the same USFA membership number.
I see that fencer is not only registered twice for the 2-day D1WE event, she's also registered twice for the D2WE event. Then she's going to slack off on Monday, the fourth day of the NAC, and is only registered once for CDTWE.
Possibility the fencer didn't register twice, but has a duplicate record in some supporting table in the underlying database, so that when a SQL query joins the tables together, the registration record appears to be duplicated.
It would still reflect a flaw in the database design, but not the same as letting her register twice for the same event.
Separate names with a comma.
