Are multi-coloerd or graphic'ed masks legal for USFA events?

Yep...and I've seen worse designs hit the strip.

Gore for the Gold (SoCal Division) a number of years back. A teammate in his first season of competition (This was maybe his 3rd tourney) shows up with a white clown face painted on his mask.

Carl Oberg is the event armorer...and he didn't even bat an eye....Matt's opponent however said "Oh...I need THIS?" when the masks went on!

The clown face went away before the next tournament.

Thank goodness that this is a "sick"ness to which sabre fencers are immune...

    This mask is also cool.

As far as flags go, GBR has a cool one. It's one of my faves. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/fencing/13336272.stm

But the mask is totally cool.

non sequitur: After all these years though, I STILL think the world's coolest bag, the one you should all pitch in together and buy me is :blockhead: http://www.prieur-sports.com/product.php?id_product=181

I like the foreign bags. We don't really have a cool national design for bags. I wanna say I remember an all white bag with the Italia logo on it.

I think it would be cool as hell if they allowed designs on masks.

They often do. GBR mens foil used those masks at worlds.

you just need to get the design pre approved.

I would wear that just to troll the people who make such a big deal out of painted mask and colored socks.

Hey, they were available, they were in my size, and they were cheap! Oh, wait...

I'm fairly certain that I did see a coloured sabre mask (the mesh, not the bib) released by LP as a one-off. Just to troll Inq, I'm sure...

For that matter, Allstar did offer a coloured bib option for their sabre masks until just recently (at least the UK site did, anyway). Maybe you still can get it if you ask. I've wondered whether you can actually get a foil mask with red mesh and a red lame bib. Just to irritate others. And advertise yourself as a total w***er.

You can get lames in all kinds of neat and irritating-to-folks-like-Inq colors. Also curious about why you ***'d out "inn". :)

One caveat to consider. The larger the bag, the more you can carry in it, and the more you WILL carry. A while back when I was looking at hard cases, a friend, Phil Gerring warned me to not get the large banjo size as you will have to pick it up and schlep it around in airports and such. His suggestion which I find true get a bag which is large enough and no more.

You've never seen Suzanne Bloomer's choice in socks. They're optimized to knock yours off and while you're in a dazed state allow her to poke you.

Psh, this is mask is nothing. My coach had one that made it look like he had a cigar coming out of his mouth (he smokes 'like a chimney' as some put it'). I never saw this mask for myself, but I can believe it.

Either choice of letters can work, really...it's just a matter of opinion which one you'd use...:)

    I know :/

Personally I don't own a colored mask, but I never really understood why it bothers people so much. Oh look, that guy has hello kitty painted on his mask, neat, time to fence.

The answer is contained in the second word of the phrase "fencing uniform"...
