Hate to say it, but I was really pulling for Marta to beat Lee in the WF gold medal...especially after how she beat Errigo.

'Course, an hour break due to a power failure probably killed her focus...'cause Lee wiped the floor with her.

Safin had Alex's number the whole way through their gold medal bout, it seems.

Any confirmation on what caused the outage?

Not that I could see. SoCal Edison's site showed an outage in Anaheim, but that was likely too far away.

There HAVE been some instances of underground electrical vaults expoding in recent months, but I don't know if that was the case today.

The rest of the venue had power, and I heard all other buildings around the center had full power as well. it was just the main heavy-duty overhead lights. I was thinking a fuse or something got blown somewhere, since it seems like it would make sense to isolate those high power lights from other core functions.

The broadcast was decent, coverage pretty good although the channel feed was sort of confusing. Commentary as usual, not much to say there. For the entire final broadcast, the sound was off. Seems pretty poor that they couldn't fix it over the entire multi-hour broadcast.

Who was the guest commentator for the finals?

I watched the semis and the finals and some great fencing. I'll caveat my next statement by saying I haven't watched a lot of women's foil recently. The WF was a pleasure to watch, lots of variety and some good attacking fencing. It seems to have improved a lot over the last few years and moved on from the cagey, counterattacking/remise game.
