    Duke City Fencing is looking for a head coach for our club in Albuquerque, NM. Please see the job description, requirements and details below and send your resume and cover letter to [email protected].

    Job Description:
    Head coach for 80-member, 3-weapon club, most students aged 6 - 15. Provide safe, fun and motivated learning environment for fencing. Create effective working relationships with staff, student coaches, fencers and their families. Provide oversight and serve as mentor for student coaches and volunteers. Provide competitive foil coaching. Must be able to teach fundamentals of epee and saber.

    Part Time:
    20 hours per week.

    Start Date: As soon as convenient

    Responsibilities include:
    · Group classes
    · Individual lessons
    · Travel to tournaments
    · Oversight of armoring
    · Coordination with parents
    · Lead group physical training
    · Coordinate monthly tournaments
    · Develop and lead tactical and technical drills

    Qualifications:
    · Must enjoy working with kids
    · Ability to work as part of a team
    · Ability to pass SAFESPORT for US Fencing
    · USFCA, FIE or US Coaches College credentials
    · One year contract required after first month’s review
    · Competitive Foil background with working knowledge of Saber and Epee
    · Ability to use a progressive step-by-step approach to teaching technical skills

    Duke City Fencing/New Mexico Fencers' Club was founded in 2005 by Toby Tolley, a top ranked epee fencer and internationally rated referee. The 4000-sq. ft. club has a fencing floor with six electric strips, a complete armory, lobby areas for parents and student homework, a kids’ room for younger siblings, 3 restrooms, kitchen area and lockers. The fencing floor features a raised wooden floor with six regulation strips with Favero and Ulhmann scoring equipment. In addition to providing competitive training, the club provides a friendly atmosphere for of all levels of fencing in a family-oriented environment.

    Reporting Relationships:
    Reports to club owner; oversees coaches, student coaches, volunteers; works with club manager.

    Albuquerque is located 5,312 feet above sea level with a metro population of 880,000. With 300+ sunny days a year, snow is rare in town, but local mountains provide many outdoor activities including climbing in summer and skiing in winter. Average temperatures range from 95 degrees F to 25 degrees F. Area industries include the Intel Corporation, Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories, Kirkland Air Force Base, a burgeoning film industry and the University of New Mexico which is well-known for its schools of Medicine, Business, Anthropology and Engineering.

    Salary
