    Hey all -

We've had some pretty heavy feedback on the nature of this forum over the last few months. The heavily moderated nature of it doesn't seem to quite fit with the reality of how its used.

In consideration of that, as an experimental first step, this is what I've done:
    • This forum is no longer moderated. By moderated, I mean that previously, every post was hand-approved by the mod team. This is no longer true. The forum is still moderated in the sense that you must follow global site rules.
    • I've instituted a "Fencing Expert" functionality into the site. Kind of like verified twitter accounts. For the purposes of discussions like this, I hope that people who participate in this forum will grant more weight to the opinions of those who have verifiable credentials in the sport, instead of some random person trying to stir up stuff.
For now, this is all. There are a few other plans, like splitting coaches and referee verification, and/or granting tiers to the verification, or even granting those with verification special privileges in this forum only. But again, for now, just this one change to see how the community responds.

You can see an example of the flair next to my username.

How does one get the "Fencing Expert" flair? Send me a private message with proof of your identity and credentials, as long as they can meet ONE OR MORE of the requirements below:
    • USA Fencing Referee 4, 3, 2, or 1
    • FIE A or B
    • USFCA Prévôt or Master
    • US Coach's College Level 3+
    • FIE Coaching Academy Certificate
    • A University degree in Physical Education or equivalent with a focus specifically on Fencing.
    • A proven track record of successful competitive students on the national or international level.
    • You are a fencer who is/was competing at the highest level of competition.
    • Or approximate equivalent to anything above.
I'm also interested in feedback on the list above, and so this list might change over time.

Wouldn't this be more effective if it wasn't self nominated? I also feel you should meet more than one criteria.

If you get the blue tick, don't you have to have the king touch you to cure it?

The new Amazon Tick series is watchable. The prior live-action isn't.
