As with many of us, my collection of George K. stories is too long to adequately summarize. I'll just say that his career in fencing spanned from a time when the U.S. was very much a backwater in the sport to now when the U.S. is regularly ranked among the top fencing nations. I was within earshot of him in the stands when Iris Zimmerman won the first ever U.S. World Championships, as he exulted "Finally! An American World Champion!".
