Dates: December 27, 2008 - January 1, 2009 Coaches: Michael Marx - Fencing Coach at Duke University and staff member of the USFA Coaches College. Five time Olympic team member and holder of a record eight U.S. national championships in foil. He has coached numerous Cadet, Junior and Senior World Championship teams. His students have earned over 50 national titles. He was the 2007 USOC Developmental Coach of the Year. Mr. Marx earned his fencing master’s degree in Katowice Poland. Sebastien Dos Santos - Member of the French national Modern Pentathlon team, four-time national champion and international gold medalist. Sebastien was the head coach for the 2004 French Women’s Modern Pentathlon Olympic team and the 2008 Brazilian Modern Pentathlon team. Carlos Bruno - Carlos is a nationally-ranked men's epee competitor and coach. He has been fencing for over 14 years, and has been coaching for over 7 years. Darius Wei - Darius was a coach at the University of Rochester for 5 years. He has nationally ranked students in both men’s and women’s foil. Simon Abram - Fencing Master, ASPTT Aix en Provence, France. Special Guest Coaches: Seth Kelsey has been fencing for over 16 years. He graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 2003. He was a member of the 2003 and 2007 Pan American Team. In addition Seth was a member of 2004 and 2008 Olympic fencing team. He has won three world cups and Zonal Championships. The first American to do either. Seth is currently ranked #1 in the US and 10th in the world. Cody Mattern - Member of the 2004 Men's Epee Olympic team, a five-time National Champion and a World Cup Silver and Bronze medalist. He has trained and coached at the NWFC since 1996 and is currently a member of the Army's World Class Athlete Program. Camp will consist of advanced skill development and refinement, bouting and conditioning. Camp also includes the famous (or infamous) NWFC New Years Eve party, and a chance to earn your 2009 rating at the New Year’s Open on Jan. 1st. A limited amount of housing is available with NWFC families. Housing is provided on a first-come basis, based on date of receipt of registration form and deposit. No housing requests will be accepted after December 1. Homestay campers will be met at the airport or train station. Please schedule your arrival no later than 7:00pm on Friday, December 26, and your departure on Friday January 2nd (or on Thursday January 1st between 7:00-10:00pm.) Cost is $550.00, which includes camp, homestay (for campers under age 21), meals and the registration fee for the Hangover Open. A nonrefundable $50 deposit is required to register; the balance of the camp fee is due on December 27.
