    If you are interested in building a microprocessor controlled test box that can sample fast enough to show traces with sample times of 0.5 or 1 ms. for foil or epee, as well as measure wire resistances at hundreds of samples per second, there is a circuit diagram for one here (see page 7):

    You would need to be able to solder decently to build the device, and need a relatively cheap device to program it, but it is actually pretty simple. We have been using an older version for a few years.
