I was going to point that out as well. However, the page on the FIS website does appear to say 3 periods of 2 minutes. Is the Congress limited to passing or rejecting the proposals, or can they modify them? If the former, perhaps the Italian federation misreported the outcome. If the latter, perhaps the Congress decided to go with two minutes for DE periods. It would be interesting to know if the separate proposals for 2 minute pool bouts and 2 minute team match bouts are also to be tested.

Will wireless be at the discretion of the organizers?

I just took another look, especially at the "original" French, and it does explicitly say two periods, not two minutes.

Interestingly I missed one other change that was included in this (apparently approved) proposal. The 8-touch rule is no longer saber only. In all 3 weapons, the first period ends when the time elapses or one fencer has scored 8. Do keep in mind that this proposal was only approved for testing, not for use in competitions.

Lots of crazy stuff was approved for testing from what I can see.
