Hi All, I moved down to Ft. Lauderdale, and I would like to find a competitive epee club in the area.

Please let me know your thoughts. While your thinking, I will try to fit back into my jacket.

You might have to readjust what you mean by "competitive." It's a "tad" hard to fence in Florida. (I moved to Miami in May but work in Fort Lauderdale so my club is in Boca.) Mario Jeleb, however, is a great coach (South Florida Fencing Club). Hope to see you there.

    Thanks,
You're right on both counts. By competitive I really mean something like a few A, B, C fencers (as in not all 12 year olds playing whack a blade). Also I have noticed there are not a lot of clubs here. Probably because it is so nice outside.

    It looks like the meet M, W,F @ 7:30. On 300 S. Military Trail, Boca ....

    Does that sound current?

Actually around 7 (although if you get there at 7:30 it's fine...the kids play soccer to warm up at 7). Normally, there's also practice on Saturday at 6:30 and that is sometimes the best because Mario will sometimes fence...but there is no practice this Saturday or the next because of the holidays. I won't be there this Friday but Mario's son (who is good) will sometimes fence on Fridays.

No foil there. I heard a foil club closed but I can find out more if you would like. A regular Vet Team WF member and world champion lives in the area. (There IS an actual saber club with a permanent facility. :) )

I've asked and been told that, for foil: Masters in Miami or Miami Fencing in Miami Lakes.

Bumping this thread - I will be moving to the Fort Lauderdale area this fall. I am a Veteran, B epee, E foil.

A lot of the weblinks I find appear to be out-of-date.

Did you have any luck, Sam?
