Position: Full or Part Time Epee Coach
    Start Date: 9/4/18

Job Description: We are an all epee club located in Ashburn, Virginia near Dulles Airport and about 40 minutes from Washington, DC. We opened in April of 2015 and have grown to about 100 students/members. Our members range in age from 7 to 75, and in level from beginner to A-rated. Our philosophy is that we are here for all students of all ages, whether they just want to fence recreationally or competitively at the highest levels. Our environment is very inclusive, with a comfortable sitting area with free coffee/tea for parents, and a table for parents or students to work. As a result, we have a very friendly atmosphere, with the students, parents, and coaches all supporting one another.

We are looking for an epee coach capable of teaching all levels from Beginner to nationally competitive fencers. All classes start at 5 PM or later Monday through Friday, or are on Saturday mornings. Lesson times depend on the availability of the coach, but are generally between 3 and 9 PM.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities will vary depending on our needs and the schedules of our coaches, but will include giving classes and one-on-one lessons. The age of potential students could be from 7-18, and the level could range from beginner to A-rated. Strip coaching on weekends is possible, but is not required. Likewise, leading summer/winter/spring break camps is also possible, but not required. The number of hours required is not fixed. If you are the right candidate, we will be happy to work with your schedule to make something work.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have experience coaching both competitive Junior level fencers as well as young beginners. However, we are happy to consider strong fencers who are interested in making the transition to coaching. Applicants must have good communication skills, the desire to make a difference, and most importantly be good with children and teenagers.

Application Instructions: Please send a resume describing any fencing or coaching experience as well as any experience working with children to [email protected].

Applicant Deadline: None, applications will be evaluated as they arrive. The position will be closed when we find the right person.
