The new ownership at SwordPlay (my club) is considering mounting the floor reels on shelves above the floor to clear the floor of reels and cables. (Orange County FC has it this way)

Three of the strips are not an issue, but strip 1 is next to a wall, and I was wondering if it would present any issue if the Faveros were mounted vertically instead....so their feet were against the wall.

    Any thoughts?

The built in braking mechanism may not work or be erractic. It depends upon gravity to reset itself.

    Ahh. A good point.

Since the uhlmann doesn’t have a brake, any issue with a similar mount on those? We have both.

It’s hard to say whether an Uhlmann reel would work any better or worst mounted in a different position than it was originally designed for.

I’m assuming that the Uhlmann reel is one of the turtle variety. Its shape would make it harder to orient it against the wall without special brackets.

For me, I’d just build a sturdy shelf bracket and orient the reel in its intended position. Just designed the bracket to accommodate both Favero and Uhlmann reels and move on to other problems.

That’s my conclusion as well. Thanks.

A New York City club did that.
