Fabrice Jeannet took a slim 4 point lead from his teammates and used it to put Hungary away in the final bout of the Men’s Team Epee gold medal match.

Jeannet used a 16-9 run to put the match away and end win the gold medal match 43-32 over Hungarian Krisztian Kulcsar.


Germany defeated Russia 37-29 to take the bronze medal.  Said German epeeist Schmind ““ It was an important match for us. We wanted so much to go back to our country with this medal so we had to try hard. You all know what Russia means for fencing. We were 100% focused in our goal and that’s the  reason why we won the bronze medal.”


Earlier in the day, France defeated the United States in the quarterfinals.  The US team placed 6th.
