This video by Holly Buechel highlights the speed and grace of fencing in this B&W short film.

Speed of Fencing long version from Holly Buechel on Vimeo.

Watch for examples of how much the blades move with even standard actions.

CCNY Says: Realized in slow motion with high-speed photography, Speed of Fencing allows the viewer to appreciate and see what happens in the mind of a trained fencer.

After watching that, check out this neat photographic technique showing a lunge in action via the forums.

Awesome video… sorry to nitpick, but is there a version without the black background? Kinda hard to see the blade at times. But thank you for the video.

Start this video at the same time as this

And make sure the sound is muted.

If timed to start nearly the same, they match up quite well and provide a considerably more entertaining experience.
