2010 Junior and Cadet Fencing World ChampionshipsAthletes are converging on Baku, Azerbaijan for the 2010 Junior and Cadet Fencing World Championships this weekend. The event, which runs from April 2 through April 10th features individual and team events contested in each of the 6 fencing disciplines.

The Cadet (Under 17) World Championships are held as individual events only, while the Junior (under 21) events are contested for both individual and team titles.

Action starts off on April 2nd with the Cadet events with Men’s Sabre and Women’s Epee.

The United States has been particularly strong in the cadet and junior championships in recent years. In 2009 US fencers brought home 11 medals across the 18 events.
