The 2015 Cadet and Junior Fencing World championships ran from April 1st to April 9th in Tashkent Uzbekistan.

2015 cadet and junior world championships tashkentHighlights for the USA from the cadet events were the gold medal win in Cadet Men’s Foil by Sam Moelis. Geoffrey Tourette claimed bronze in Cadet Men’s Foil as well. The USA’s other cadet medal came from Sylvie Binder who won bronze in Cadet Women’s Foil.

The cadet event featured a mixed team event which was won by Korea who defeated Japan in the finals. Russia defeated the USA for the bronze.

Korea led the way in the cadet events, with 3 total gold medals. Russia earned 6 total medals (one gold, two silver and 3 bronze) while Italy claimed 5 medals (2 silver and 3 bronze.)

In the Junior events, France led the individual medal tables with 3 gold medals. The USA scored 2 golds (Sara Taffel, Women’s Foil; Eli Dershwitz, Men’s Sabre) and a bronze (Sage Palmedo, Women’s Sabre). Italy also won individual gold and supplemented that with two silver medals.

Italy dominated the Junior Team events, winning 3 gold medals (Team Women’s Foil, Women’s Saber, and Men’s Foil) – effectively outclassing the field. The USA came away from the team portion with the silver medal in Team Women’s Foil and a bronze in Team Men’s Sabre.
