From gymnastics to fencing, kids are choosing an Olympic sport and running with it

Some of the less publicized sports in Western New York, from fencing to synchronized swimming, are seeing increases in demand spurred by the Olympic Games in Athens, which ended with Sunday’s closing ceremonies.


“Interest has probably doubled,” said Kevin McMahon, director of the Fencing Center of Buffalo, on Maryvale Drive in Cheektowaga. “The Olympics always helps us – and so do pirate movies.”  [Read the full story at The Buffalo News]
