Divisions are the local organizations that serve the local fencing communities. While most divisions operate on a state-wide level, some areas of the country have a higher concentration of fencers, so they have multiple divisions serving a single state.
The main functions of the Divisions are to run the qualifying tournaments for the Division II, Division III, Under 16, and Under 19 events at the US National Championships as well as to qualify individuals for the Junior Olympics. Divisions also serve as the local sanctioning body for tournaments and validate any ratings changes with the USFA main office.
All Divisions must run under the USFA bylaws.
