Summary: Not Bad!
February 2nd, 2010

I purchased this mask a little over 2 years ago and have used it ever since until now. I have just purchased Leon Paul's X-Change FIE Mask and am currently awaiting its arrival. The mask is like most other non-FIE masks; It offers protection.

It has held out for a little over two years now, of intense 5-6 days a week training with tournaments and camps. The mask size I got was a medium (which is my size), however, it did not stay on my head as well as those found in my studio. The sizing was right but the mask itself was too big. It slides around sometimes but has never actually fallen off. It hasn't failed me yet so I would like recommend it to beginners looking for their first mask. It is a cheap mask (in terms of price) which does what it offers. I did not now that it was made in China (at the time of purchase), so that in itself may lower many people's expectations of it but i assure everyone who reads this one thing... it'll hold out. After all, it survived my hell-ish fencing training for 2 years! I trust it enough to pass it on to my little sister who is hoping to start competing soon.

Summary: Excellent Entry-level Mask
January 27th, 2009

Basic 3-weapon mask made in China.  It is the "Linea" brand.  It is rated for 350 NW and has CE certification, according to the label on the mask.

It is very good at stopping hits, I use it in practice all the time.  A friend wore it when he and I were doing some impromptu Kendo, and it received a pretty solid strike that didn't cause any change in appearence or damage in the slightest.  I have yet to use it at a tourney, but that will likely change soon.  It's very solid, with excellent padding; very snug, but not tight.  At just over $39, it's a great deal.  As I said in the description however, it's often a substitute for the JL masks, so if you distrust the JL, I would simply ask for the Linea in your order, it's a great mask, particularly for the money.
