Summary: Strong and light

It's strong, it's light, and it's 11.5cm - close to the maximum-sized shield you can mount on a foil. It also has a too-sharp edge that needs to be sanded down. other than that, it's a winner.

Summary: the only one for my foils
April 20th, 2007
brand new, it looks like a great guard. after having it for well over a year, it's still in great condition.

it's safe to say that it's been used a bit. when u first get it, it has a great matte finish, however that doesn't last too long. however the overall structure of the guard has not changed at all. virtually no dents anywhere, and i've had some pretty hard bell clashes w/ this blade.

on other guards, when the edge isn't rolled in, wear and tear puts sharp teeth into it. however my vniti one piece is still smooth to the touch, i could run it along my skin w/o any problems.

it's also a very light guard. a little heavier than an acg light guard i got from blue-gauntlet, but lighter still than a lp guard i have.

although it's prob. one of the more expensive guard, i have high doubts you'll need to replace it any time soon.

Summary: Best guard money can buy
March 24th, 2007
Vniti makes the strongest guard you can get--except maybe a steel guard. I say maybe, because the Vniti guard really might hold its shape just as well as steel. Unlike steel, however, this guard is very light.

I've used mine for about 8 months of fencing two nights a week, and I haven't experienced a single dent. There are just minor scratches in the surface. If I sanded them out, it could pass for brand new.

I also think it's a very attractive design. It has a lip around the outside edge that rolls inward just a little bit that looks good, but also strengthens the guard and keeps the edges from becoming ragged.

They sure are expensive though. You could buy five standard guards for the price of a Vniti, but the Vniti would easily outlast all five.

One caveat is that you may have to file down a tang to be able to fit the Vniti onto a blade. The square hole is usually just a little tight.

Summary: Strong and Light
December 14th, 2006
These lightweight guards have a kind-of matte finish on them. They are terrically strong and difficult to dent.

I use the LP strong/lightweight (with the copper rivets) guard on one of my foils and it\'s a high quality guard but these Vniti guards seem to be significantly stronger, although not as \"pretty\".

Conclusion: Highly recommended. Relatively light, extremely tough.
