Summary: Better for newb armourers

I tackled my first rewire recently. The first two attempts were with LP's wire, and both resulted in shorts. Likely because the only insulation is the cotton sheath, which is delicate stuff. Third try I switched to AF wire and it worked.

Besides the outer cloth, there is a layer of red paint coating the wire itself. This provides added insurance against shorting when the job is done by a clumsy amateur.

Just remember to remove the paint where the wires contact the socket. I rubbed them gently for a few seconds with fine sandpaper.
