Summary: Triplette Competition Arms Stretch FIE Fencing Jacket
May 21st, 2009

I've used this jacket for a couple of months, and it is both remarkably comfortable, and an outstanding fit, because Triplette will completely custom-tailor a jacket for nominal extra cost.

I first tried their standard jacket for size, but it was way too large and very wide in the torso for me. I then sent them another jacket that was a decent fit as a pattern, along with desired changes in fit and sizing, and requests for several custom features.

I had a couple of conversations with the head seamstress about the fit and features (longer in the torso to cover low-waisted fencing pants, elastic gussets at the wrist, double elastic on the d-rings, etc., and the result came out exactly as I had hoped.

It is a Perfect custom fit, made extremely well, and the fabric is remarkable. The single-layer 800N Spectra fabric is very stretchy and comfortable, wicks like crazy, and, once damp, cools like having a personal air-conditioner. It is also silky and slippery enough on the outside that it might actually shrug off a touch that would register on a coarser fabric.

This jacket is well worth the price - I ordered another one identical to it.

Bonus: it's entirely Made in the U.S.A., both fabric and tailoring.
