Summary: great DVD
September 11th, 2004
pretty good DVD overall...excellent view of the piste, director doesn't get in the way, slow motion replays, semifinal and final bouts..what more do you need?? (well besides the entire tournament but thats unreasonable so this is the next best thing). must have for your epee collection. unfortunately, mine doesn't work anymore.

Summary: Very Good Effort
January 19th, 2004
I've just watched this and I have to say that I am impressed. The quality of the video is very impressive. At first I didn't like the slow motion replies after every point but once I got used to it it was ok. The only thing missing is the commentary. Good work.

Summary: nice epee action
November 4th, 2003
great dvd for checking out some top epee. the view is clear, the filming done professionally and the fencing is great! after every touch you want to see it again, and the slow-mo replays save you having to keep a finger on rewind. there are a few holes in the bouts (missing footage) and i wish that the video didn't cut off right at halt - you miss some ref calls, and the fencer's reactions. but overall a great video!

Summary: World's Best Epeeists!
October 21st, 2003
This DVD is professionally shot footage from EsgrimaMex of the final 3 bouts of the 2002 epee finals, and of the team final. Using DVD's zoom capability shows the great resolution available. Lighting is good and camera motion absent. The camera viewpoint is from the side of the strip opposite the director. Production values are good. There is ambient sound, but no commentary in any language. There are a few titles, in English, conveying bout information (such as "touch annulled"), and slow-motion replay after each touch. Great sound of epee clash. Very clearly presented.

The next step up would include more than one camera and skilled analysis and commentary--but that might have to wait for the fencing channel on US TV!
