Uhlmann Electric Epee Point
The steel used by Uhlmann is "self-lubricating". What this means is that, especially when new, the tip moves VERY smoothly inside the barrel. The problem is that it also means a fairly soft steel which is then prone to deformation. Less of a problem with epee points than it is with the foils, it can still be an issue. The problem with flaking of the plating was a temporary one that was caused by the subcontractor used one year and should no longer be an issue.
The wires aren't soldered to the contacts, being crimped instead. This cost tradeoff leads to many more problems than Uhlmann's name for quality should allow for as the wire can pull out and corrosion can occur in this joint.
