Summary: Still kickin
October 25th, 2005
I've had my Santelli bag for 10+ years now. I've since gotten into the habit of over-packing for every competition, so I carry much of my kit in a hockey bag, but I use my Santelli exclusively for weapons and cords. I can fit 7 foils, 5 epee's, 8 body cords, and a ziplock of tools in there with minimal effort!

If/when I get tired of it, it's deffinitely being donated to my club to serve another 10 years :)

Summary: Good Beginner Bag
September 15th, 2004
PROs:

DURABLE canvas bag. You will grow tired of this bag before it breaks. Well Priced.

Average Qualities:

Doesn't hold an exceptional amount. Bag doesn't breath well, so if you keep sweaty items in it, a noticable odor will develop.

CONs:

NO HANDLE! Only a shoulder strap. Also, No outside pockets. Zipper is a bit short, so it can be hard getting a french grip into the bag, especially if you use PVC to protect the metal. Getting longer blades in, and manuvering a mask into the bag can be a chore, but it is possible to carry three epees and a Sabre, full whites, shoes, mask, a few t-shirts and two water bottles. It will be tough to fit, but I've done it.

Overall: Great bag for team practice weapons, recreational fencer without much equipment, new fencers, or kids. You will probably outgrow it eventually, but it will serve you well.

Summary: decent bag for the price
June 17th, 2004
This is a simple, durable bag for a relatively inexpensive price. Mine only gave out when the seams finally let go after several years of being overstuffed (two epees, two foils, mask, jacket, etc).

However it's usefulness is limited - I often wished the zipper were a bit longer and that it had a seperate pocket to keep body cords and other small items (although a small toiletries travel-bag proved to be a good solution to that problem and was a lot cheaper than the "deluxe" bag).

Summary: Durable, good for kids
July 24th, 2003
This bag brings back memories! I had two as a junior fencer 15+ years ago, and they were durable (lifespan measured in years) and handy. One died when the strap broke. The other lasted through high school and college.

This is not a competition bag, unless you're just starting out. For what they are -- club bags, handy little things to cart minimal equipment sets around -- they are quite good.

Summary: A decent bag.
July 24th, 2003
This bag is a good bag for a beginner or a recreational fencer. With the right packing it will hold two foils, a mask, a jacket and a pair of shoes. The seams, the zipper and the material are strong. It is a bit tricky getting a french grip foil through the opening though.
