Summary: Quality Glove
March 22nd, 2006
While my grip tends to wear through gloves pretty quickly, the Blue-Gauntlet glove surprised me; I wore through around six layers on the thumb before a true hole appeared!

Comfort-wise, the glove is better than average; the padding really makes a difference.

It\'s definitely an excellent glove to purchase, last-minute, at Nationals because you accidentally left yours at home, drying on the laundry rack.

Summary: Below average
August 17th, 2005
This is for the BG washable purple and beige glove.

In terms of stitching and construction this glove isn't any worse than other gloves in this price range.

The fit is a personal thing. But, I found it to be a little narrow for both the palm and fingers and my hand isn't terribly large (8.5).

The real weakness of this glove is that the synthetic suede-like material in the fingers is slippery when holding a typical painted foil grip. Noticeably more slippery than other gloves that use synthetic materials. Adding grip tape helps but it dramatically increased the wear on the glove to the point where the first layer of material wore completely through fairly rapidly.

Summary: A bit small
January 10th, 2005
I ordered a #8 glove from BG and it turns out to be smaller than the other #8 gloves out there. It's not the most comfortable glove and it's quite thin. It's good if you order in bulk for a beginners group since it's cheap, but if you're getting a glove for yourself, I suggest spending a few extra bucks for a better glove.

Summary: Slippery
August 1st, 2004
This was my first glove when i took up foil. Over a short period of time, it did become quite slippery to hold (pistol grips). I ordered a size larger than my normal hand size and the glove still started to rip apart at the seems in less than a year. However this is there cheapest glove, so I expected this. It looked alright though. the cuff stayed firmly velcro'd to your forearm. Looked clean cut (unlike those disgusting, mildewed, raggy looking leather gloves).

Summary: It's a decent deal
May 8th, 2004
I've had mine for 2 years, and its pretty good. It's fine for epee, but I don't reccomend it for foil because it dosn't grip well after a litte while of use (due to sweat?) on the painted handles.

Summary: Good buy for beginner
January 31st, 2004
(note: I'm assuming this is the ACG model that's purple.)

Thumb, index, middle, and ring finger were cut short by the glove's cloth. The stiches inside were humongous and were slightly uncomfortable. The length of the glove's pinky finger was at least half a cm off, and that got annoying. However, it may just be because my fingers aren't part of their glove standard.

In any case, this is a very good deal for beginners who want the safe padding and the double layer on the half fingers. It's good for intermediates who are new to BG, and want to save money.

I have yet to see the stitching become undone because I'm not a rigorous fencer. However, I have noticed that BG has a tendency to cheat stitches (at least on my nylon jacket) and their "stictch-offs" ( the beginnings and ends of a seam/stitch line) aren't there.

Summary: Slippery - Weak stitches
July 22nd, 2003
My first glove was one of these and I found that the stitching on the thumb came undo very quickly. My son also has one and he had exactly the same problem with the stitching. It was a quick and easy repair.

I have also found that the glove did not give sufficient friction on an insulated grip during bouting. The Allstar and Uhlmann gloves give MUCH better contact and to mind mind are well worth the extra expense even for a recreational fencer.

Summary: average glove, good price
July 20th, 2003
this glove is an average glove that is a good pick for a beginner who does not want to spend the extra money for a better glove. the lack of good padding reduces target area for epee, but I would not recommend it for sabre.
