Allianace Gold Bladed Epee

epee fencer
Summary: Sometimes you get what you pay for

Sometimes you get what you pay for. Sometimes not even that.I bought a couple of cheap Chinese epees from Alliance to act as spares just to get me through a tournament.

Light, occasional use results in almost immediate hot-spot in blade after horrific bend from a routine hit. I witnessed another fencer with the same weapon try to straighten the bend with his hand and 8" of foible snapped off of his shiny, new, golden bladed epee. I fear fencing with these weps. After 1 year from purchase: Wire popping out, excessive blade rust (nothing else in my bag rusted), and chipping, scaling on the guard.Exceptionally crappy weapon, and a poor value at any price.

In 30 odd years of fencing, this is by far the worst weapons I've ever seen. I will keep the sockets and pommel nuts. As a favor to those with whom I practice and compete, I'm tossing the rest, unbroken, into the trash.(Note: Not everything from this vendor is junk. I have a jacket and knickers from them that are fine. But these epees are simply NOT ok.)
