FIE Mask F280CX w/Ice

This mask is simply the most comfortable mask i've ever worn.

High praise for the Contour-Fit system - took two weeks of getting used to donning and removing, but now is just as easy as with the big metal tang. It holds so snugly to the head; comfort, vision, and confidence are all improved. Even mighty hits to the mask are easier to take, without it rattling all over your head.

Bib changing is quick and easy, and the epee bib (which i use at the club) is wearing very well. I only use the lame bib at tournaments, so i can't comment on the wear and tear to that yet.

Originally I got the standard lining, but later bought the ICE lining - not for the temperature control, but simply for the better hearing. I truly believe this has improved my fencing. Also it makes taking lessons easier in a noisy gym, and teaching the younger club members with timid voices MUCH easier.

Note to fencers wearing spectacles - you're still going to fog up on any duel longer than 5 points!

This mask fits me perfectly, and the ice lining and the fact that this mask has better air flow than other masks i've tried keeps you cool while fencing. This mask can also take strong hits without any fear of denting the mask. One other thing that i have found about this mask is that  metal mesh extends down farther on the side of mask which protects part of your neck usally only protected by bib from hits while not inhibiting movement.

I don't have any real experience with other masks, but I've been using one of these for four months, and it is excellent: light, cool, and I can hear well while wearing it.

The ICE padding is easily removable for occasional washing, and is absorbent while the mask is being worn. I don't get sweat in my eyes.

I have found nothing I don't like about this mask. I even finally worked out how to put it on it one-handed.
