Kolobkov Pro

Product Details
Kolobkov Pro maraging Electric FIE épée blade.
Designed by 4 times World Champion and 6 times Olympic Medallist Pavel Kolobkov this epee blade is a combination of the best features of the Leon Paul design V blades and the popular BF blade.
The K-Pro Blade combines the light weight and long lifespan of the Leon Paul V blade with the precise point control and balance of a BF. The balance point has in fact been moved 1cm back towards the hand from that of a BF blade and it weighs 10g (1/4oz) less.
To increase the blade's durability the top surface has been peened to remove surface defects. The blades are finishes in a deep gold colour and have the name of their designer and namesake; the legendary Kolobkov Laser etched onto the forte.
Manufactured for Leon Paul by the LM forge.

What a shame this blade can't be made right now. My dad bought me two of them, and whatever hype you heard about this blade is dead on. Its a great mix of the best from BF and LP FIE blades. I have been using mine for almost 2 tears now with no issues at all. Flicking has become more accurate. I would buy 5 more if I could only find them.

After shelling out over £100 for this blade I was looking forward to using it. After my first fight in the poules the blade stopped working. This was due to the grub screw in the tip being in to tight and stopping the contact. I had not touched it from when I bought it, so was very disappointed.
After changing the tip, I used the blade for 1 de fight and found the blade had a weak point half way down, as much as I tried to straighten it out it continues to be weak in that spot. I also noticed that down the blade there are nicks were opponents blades have chipped the metal out of the blade, which I've never seen in a blade before. I think this is due to the softness of the steel. Also there is a bend at the guard end of the blade which is strange.
As well as the wire coming out after only a few fights, overall I think this blade is very poor and not worthy of the price it demands, I will never buy one again and have never had such a low quality blade in the 20 years I have been fencing.

I've been using the K-pro for about 5 months, and it has exceeded expectations. It's point is always on, even allowing for tight flicks to the wrist and forearm.
I don't do many binds, but I found that this blade's close balance also makes it ideal for yielding parries.
Unlike the regular LPs, there is no vibration whatsoever when I beat, parry, of get parried.
Disengages are a dream with this blade. There is no loss of point, even with actions requiring multiple actions.
Overall, this is my favorite blade. Ever. It's a crime that Leon Paul appears to have discontinued them.

This is a great blade. It DOES balance closer to the hand, making the point really nimble, as the guy before me has said. I was a little worried about the whipiness to it, but I found out it's whippy to a good extent, meaning you can flick to the hand, but with no point lag. It's pretty stiff, but EXTREMELY hard to cant. I reccomend to anybody who likes the BF's, but wants good durability and functionality.

When I first held it, I knew that this was better than anything I've tried. I've tried BFs and Leon Paul FIEs but they don't really come close to this. (Maybe the BF batch that I tried wasnt good but I don't really know what batch is good). The balance is really much closer to the guard, meaning that its light, and very nimble (unlike Leon Paul FIEs which are even lighter but has a balance right in the middle of the blade its rather unwieldy). This blade is a real joy to use. Coupled with a lightweight guard, it feels damn good. Very sturdy and no matter how much I tried to lunge at too-near distances, fleche too close to my opponent, the blade never bends upwards. Its really solid, yet I still can flick with it. Recommended!
