Next Generation German Point

The barrel was used intensively for 1 month (tournaments and training)and it has exceeded all expectations. The previous German V2A barrel, while improved, was still damaged by striking the opponents guard and required regular cleaning. After intensive use the inside of the barrel showed very little wear and the action of the tip is still very precise. After 1 month the electrical resistance was only 0.3 ohms (with no cleaning!). Finally someone has designed a trouble free foil point that can be used with very little maintenance.

For YEARS fencers and armorers have had to put up with the 2 primary faults in German foil points...screws getting smashed flat because they project out from teh sides of the barrel, and tips jamming because the barrel's so thin it dents easily.
Now FWF has elected to solve those problems by the very simple method of increasing the thickness of the barrel (by maybe 1/2 mm). The screws are now flush with the barrel surface like a French point, and I cannot see anyone delivering a hit hard enough to dent this puppy to the point where the tip would jam.
H.O.M. Fencing has switched over to this barrel for all German foil points.
The difference in weight between the new and old barrels is 9/10th of a gram...basically nil....
