**review for CAS Hanwei right-handed Torino Rapier**
just received the sword. i ordered it on the 18th and received by the 24th (via 10 day delivery mind you). given the holiday and increased volumes companies are dealing with, in regards to response-time, i couldn't be more pleased.
so far, the sword seems in perfect order; just as described. my only complaint would be that the leather covering over the ricasso was not secured properly, and at the top it is coming away from the blade (minor, but certainly noticeable). also, the tape holding the protective paper around the scabbard was done poorly. it was directly on the leather there; due to that, there is a marking on the leather where the tape was. again, small but annoying.
overall, 4 out of 5. fast delivery; product seems in great working order, and bearing only minor cosmetic defects. thanks for the great order! :)

I just want to say Craig did an excellent job in getting back to me as soon as he realized I needed to make a small change. I am very pleased with the level of service and range and quality of equipment from this supplier.

I am a little frustrated that I didn't hear back from my multiple e-mails before shipping. On the other hand, having your order filled and shipped quickly would have been nice had I not had a minor change to make and an some more items to add.

I have been content ordering my son's fencing gear through a vendor our club uses. When it was time for my own gear,though, I decided to research my options. Through the fencing.net reviews, forums, and product descriptions I was able to make choices I am very happy with. I will continue to shop here for more of my own equipment, as well as my son's as he needs gear replaced. He is already eyeing my fdn plastron!

Craig answered my questions about products and taking Canadian orders quickly and succinctly (but not to be confused with curtly). The prices are also much fairer than other Canadian stores I looked at online. When I placed my order, it was shipped out the next day. When my order arrived, I was also very pleased with the quality of the products - they were much nicer than the things I'd been given by my varsity team.
It was unfortunate, however, that Canada Customs' and Canada Post's handling of my package and its shipping were extremely less than stellar. I had to wait three weeks for my package to clear customs and be delivered to me. Upon delivery, I had the unpleasant surprise of being charged a second time by Canada Post for the handling done by customs (this was separate from the shipping already paid through F.net for USPS).
Fencing.net's end of the service was excellent, has fair prices, and I am very pleased with the products, and I would like to reward that with my continued patronage. However, I still have to think twice about making any more orders from Canada because of customs and the local postal service. If I were a continental US resident, I would definitely continue shopping from F.net.

Craig is a great vendor. . If F.net has what I want (and it usually does), I will always order from Craig. His quality of service and caring are fantastic. He knows his products and can offer excellent advice.
I can even count on him to ship the kind of blade that causes my coach to say "Ah, Good blade!" when he gives it a test. (As opposed to, "Bad blade. You must have ordered this one from the Internet")
I went through a lot of exchanges getting a new kit that fit and he was always great about taking time to discuss my needs and shipping promptly. I had an issue with bad blade wiring on one I ordered and he had a new blade to me before I had a chance to get to the post office to send the old one back. (Every blade I have ordered since has been wired just fine, by the way.) He works hard to make sure you are happy.
The only thing to keep in mind, is that if you order anything that says "Absolute" the shipping will take a sudden jump because those items are shipped separately from another vendor. I appreciate that he makes stuff from them available and understand the shipping angle, but it is something to remember.
In short, I heartily recommend F.net to anyone who is looking for fencing equipment. It is the next best thing to shopping in person. Sometimes it is even better.

F.net sent me an epee blade with the tang chopped too short for me to assemble. I was worried about a hassle, but I just snapped a photo, sent it to Craig and he immediately acknowledged the mistake. Not only did he send out a replacement blade immediately, he tried to find the source of the problem and fix it so that this does not happen again.

I carefully measured my daughter for her fencing jacket. The one we received was uncomfortably tight. I decided to keep that jacket for her sister to grow into. I called Fencing.net to order another jacket, one size larger. The jacket I needed was on back order. Fencing.net offered to send me a different brand jacket at no extra cost or waive the shipping charges if I chose to wait for the back order. Their customer service person was very pleasant and helpful. I will order from them again.

Excellent service, very prompt, and I even recieved notice that there would be a short delay in shipping due to high demand for that product. I would not hesitate to order again.

The three problems I've had in my 4-5 orders: 1. I didn't specify a cant in a blade, and I recieved it canted right handed, and I'm a lefty. 2. An LP epee tip came with a french screw in it. 3. The LP GT point I ordered came with an LP standard tip in it and a german epee screw in it.
I think the online catalogue could have better pictures and descriptions of some items. I think it's good, but it's overshadowed by Leon Paul. I won't really be happy until there are 3D models of every piece of equipment, though.
Everything else I have to say is good.
I don't get to many national tournaments, so my chances to wave a lot of blades around at a vendor's table are few and far between. Fencing.net has helped soften the blow by being the only company I can trust to order a blade online. They're also one of the few I really trust to wire a blade.
I like the eclectic collection of equipment from different manufactures, but I especially like that fencing.net carries pretty much the full line of Leon Paul products.
Most of all, I like the customer service. Whenever I had a question, the responses I got from them have been quick and helpful. Shipping was always fast for me. If for some reason you want a wider range of opinions than just the fencing.net employees, you can always post in the armory forum.
