Fencing-D Advanced Sock

I am just shy of 6'3" and purchased the XL. I have no problem with getting them over the calves--they are quite easy to put on. But, they are just not long enough. Bottom line, they are great fencing socks in every way, except that they won't be legal for the many tall fencers out there.

I tried a pair of these and I was fairly impressed with them out of the package. They have some very nice features and padding, much more than most fencing socks, wich are all to often tube socks with a vendors logo on them.



The padded areas are where they should be and offer some good cushioning and protection, the banded areas around the foot help keep circulation going and help keep them from bunching and twisting up inside your fencing shoes and anything that helps keep your feet cooler and less stinky is a good thing.



I had two problems with them however, one major and one minor. the minor one is that the color scheme just does not do it for me. My club wears socks in white or club colors so I would like them much better if some basic colors were offered.



The major issue however is that they seem to run very small. I got the largest size and could not get them over my calves. Now I am a big guy, not just tall but powerfully built through the body as well, so I thought it might just be me. I gave them to a friend of mine who is a more typcal epeeist being beanpole thin and still 6\'6\". He also found them a little tight in the calves and they did not go up far enough for him.



So, in short if you are not over about 6\'3\" and do not have very thick calves, these are very nice socks and a good value. For the larger of us however, they seem to run a bit to small.
