Summary: so so
March 4th, 2009
this blade was just ok it lasted about 3 months it did get a pretty bad s bend and it also bent up right at the base of the tip so it could not be bent back. this blade seemed better than the standard absolute and BG blades. for the price though i would just buy a non FIE STM which seem to last longer and get fewer kinks.

Summary: Worst epee blade ever
March 25th, 2007
These are pretty middle of the road epee blades in terms of weight, flex, and balance. They're pretty similar to StM in feel and appearance, but they're maybe a little more flexible.

They're also pretty cheap.

I've fenced about two hours total with mine and it's already taking odd bends about three inches down from the tip. An epeeist I know got one, and in the first week, it took an odd bend three inches down from the tip. Another epee fencer got one and hers took an upward bend three inches from the tip that was so severe it bent out the triangular shape of the blade and it can no longer be used.

Of the three blades, our club got 3-4 weeks use out of them. That's about a week per blade. You don't pay much, but you get what you pay for.

Summary: light and flexible
May 2nd, 2006
Well, as little_old_me pointed out, these blades do tend to get rusty. It doesn\'t really bother me as the only problem I see with that is that they can stain you, or others uniforms.

This is also my first epee blade, so I don\'t have much to compare it to. It\'s a lot more flexible than other blades that I\'ve felt. It\'s also lighter, which I\'m fond of.

My blade (and I think it\'s just my blade) has developed a weak point near the point that bends with almost every shot. I don\'t know, since this is my only Absolute Gold blade, if this is characteristic of all their blades, but it certainly occurs on mine.

Summary: not the worst...
January 5th, 2006
This was my first Epee blade. I thought that by buying a blade that was slightly above the cheapest that Absolute offered, I would be getting a decent blade.

Well, The blade has definitely held up better than Absolute Standard blades that I have used. It has lasted 5 months without any significant bends.

The blade was not Gold as advertised when it arrived. It was more of a brown color. I discovered quickly that this was rust. I am, however, the only person I know that has had that experience.

The blade has continued to rust really easily, even when kept completely seperated from the rest of my gear. Again, I seem to be the only person in my club that has this problem.

During a recent re-wire, I discovered that the blade is pitted in the groove that holds the wire. I feel that I must have gotten a blade from a bad batch.

I still use this blade as my backup, but I\'m glad I found a BF to replace it as main weapon.
