These are the most comfortable shoes I've ever fenced in. Previously I had a pair of the Adidas Adistar high tops, and while the support and grip were excellent, the cushioning and general comfort were not.
I've fenced on the Estocs for about 18 months, they were very comfortable and had good grip and good cushioning. Piste feel was not as good as the Adidas. They went on and off easier than the Adidas. The soles wore pretty well but in the last few months, they have lost their grip and the lateral support is starting to break down. I fence about three days a week and compete an average of once per month.
They are a bit "clownish" in appearance, but I'm not too fashionable to begin with.
Overall, they were a good value and, again, very comfortable. That said, I've switched to the new PBT Fortuna Plus low tops in an effort to find a more durable shoe and strengthen my ankles.
