Summary: YIKES!
April 16th, 2007
Total junk. They are light and cheap, but you will end up replacing them in a few weeks so there's no real value. Our club bought several practice foils for beginners and nearly everyone broke in one of two places - typically about 12 cms from the tip, or the tang snapped in one or two pieces! Students would un-screw the pommel on their French grip and the foil would fall apart from the broken tang. They are not hard hitters either. BG would not replace them. Avoid like the plague.

Summary: Light and Very Fragile.
December 14th, 2006
One of the cheapest blades that you can buy, I\'ve used several of them.

The best that you can say about them is that they are wonderfully light. Unfortunately, they all ended up snapping after a few weeks (or less) of fencing even if you aren\'t particularly heavy-handed. They seem to have an uncommonly large number of flaws that greatly impact their durability.

Conclusion: Not recommended. Save a little more money and purchase a more durable blade.

Summary: Flexible and Light
January 10th, 2005
The blade is EXTREMELY flexible and light. I've had mine for about three months (fencing 4-5 days a week) and then it broke. The only thing I like about this blade is that it's dirt cheap. I won't get another one tho because it makes even the lightest electric blade feel quite heavy in comparison.

Summary: Good for new fencers.
September 10th, 2004
We use these blades for all of our beginning fencers. The are light and flexible which is both good and bad. The light weight helps younger kinds build up their finger and hand strength without being overwhelming while the flexibility keeps bruising and hard hits down while they are learning proper distance and timing.

The down side to this is that on hard beats and parries the tip will wobble a fair amount. Even this has a plus side as it helps to eventually develop parries and beats with just enough force since if you swat/slash you will hit flat and not get the touch.

They also do not rust as bad as the fleche blades in my experience, which are my next pick for beginner blades and have been surprisingly durable. We have run about 4 beginners and intermediate classes through using these blades and have yet to have one snap on us.

All in all one of the better low priced practice blades in my opinion.

Summary: Flexible, light
August 1st, 2004
The blade becomes very flexible after a short while of usage and is quite light weight. It was my first blade and took much wear before biting the dust. Make sure to sand it frequently because it rusted on me often and later in its life started to knick very easily.

Summary: BG dry Blade
March 12th, 2004
It's a good begginers practice blade for those of whom are starting out in fencing and are intimidated by the notion of being poked at. The Blades soft ,well, blade makes it easier for begginers to enjoy the sport with less pain. Even though point control isn't all that great with the blade flying almost everywhere. It does give begginers a chance to hit as hard as they want without all the bruises that we normal fencers face with. And besides with more pratice, the begginer fencer may want to move to a more stiffer weapon for more point control. But by then the fencer may be moving into electric fencing.

Summary: Too flexible
September 9th, 2003
This blade is ultra flexible. In fact, it is the most flexible blade I have ever used. I bet someone with a strong arm could flick his own hand with this thing. If you like to flick, I guess this blade would be good for you. The problem is the fact that this is a dry blade, which means flicking is pointless. You can still parry with this thing I guess, but don't expect your riposte to be very accurate. The blade does rust a bit, but I do not think it rusts more than any other average cheap blade. There is one thing I do like about the flexibility though; it is good for poking wall targets. The flexibility will keep the blade from damaging the wall (with a rubber tip of course). Also, if you want to fence dry with someone who does not like pain, use this blade.
