I\'ve had mine for over two years now and it\'s still going strong. I only washed it a few times, and usually rolls and just stuff it in my bag. I didn\'t expect it to last so I took really bad care of it. I use it as my practice lame so I fence with it at least 3 days a week. It looks pretty scratched up, and it\'s fairly green around the collar, also many green spots on various spots on the lame. But it still works! There\'s no dead spot on it yet. If this lame ever dies on me I\'m definitely getting another BG lame for practice. It\'s not the best looking lame, and develops green spots fairly easily -- that\'s why I have an uhlmann lame for competition.
For practice tho, this lame can really take a lot of beating.

It's a good lame for the price and can last you awhile if you, as has been said, take care of it. All lames will go bad, and it's a good idea to get an easily replaceable one (i.e. cheap). Wash it every 2-3 practices, never leave it in your fencing bag, and hang it up after every use. It does take some care to get this lame to last, but if you care enough for the value - it can last you.
My BG lame died about 7 months after I bought it, but I did all the wrong things in caring for it. I've known others that have gotten it to last for over a year.

Doesn't fit tall people very well. Can develop dead spots real quickly if not taken care of. If taken care of well, it could last a while so the value can be average if you know how to care for your lame.
If you crumble it up into a ball like my former highschool dead, then you can expect to lose its value in hmmm... 3-5 months?

My BG foil lame has not lasted as well as I'd like. It doesn't seem to stand up well to lots of point impacts, and has developed several small holes in the fabric. In all fairness, this may be because it's a tad too small for me, so the material is stretched more tightly across the front than would be ideal. It seems to oxidize fairly quickly, with a greenish tint appearing around the collar after only a few uses, but it washes out easily and hasn't caused any lasting conductivity problems. It's probably not the best foil lame out there, but it's inexpensive - and I ended up getting a new one of the same kind (but a slightly larger size!) this year at Nationals, because the overall performance was satisfactory and the price was right.

this lame is very durable, with proper care it should last you a few years, or at least mine is a few years old and still going strong. it has a clasic design and materials, it also fits really well. the only complaint that i have on this is the fact that the ring for the floor cable is in the back and not on the side.
