Summary: Great Practice, Top Non-FIE
December 15th, 2009

First, let's be clear that this is not my "main blade." I use it to give my more valuable blades a break sometimes. Though I have seen some slight quality variation, I would say that the balance of this blade is not too bad. One does have to watch out for bad bends but I've been able to straighten these out to an acceptable degree. Based on experiences (1 blade broke after maybe 8 months, another has lasted a bit longer and is still with me), I would expect  this blade to last at least 1 fencing season. Of course, I would temper this expectation somewhat if the blade was in constant use as a primary weapon. With other non-FIE blades I've checked out, either they are extremely whippy-- like my point could be anywhere whippy-- and/or they develop bends and kinks that don't come out which leads to faster breakage.

I agree with some other reviewers that for $30 this blade is an excellent value for what I get out of it-- a practice weapon that has a satisfactory feel not too removed from my "real" weapons. Moreover, this blade is resilient enough that I can expect it to last at least a fencing season and I am able to get it to maintain a decent curve albeit with minor kinks.

Summary: Good Economy Model

The three I've had acquired permanent kinks pretty quickly, but have lasted, on average, for about two years on a diet of private lessons, target practice, and a few dry matches a week. Not bad for an inexpensive blade.

My friend used them against me and they broke every 10 touches. They come out really sharp to the point where the amount of force placed could have pierced my Olympia jacket. It's light but easy to bend and break.

Summary: Value Blade

I would describe it as an ill-balanced, easily deformed, but light, stiff and highly durable blade.

On contrary to many have mentioned, it doesn't really rust very easily, at least not according to my experience.

For about 30 bucks, this is the perfect blade for practice, especially when you fence with beginners who whack on your blade hard.

These blades are cheep, soft, and weak. they rust and age quickly, this goes for both electric and no electric. If you can shop around try to find a france lames or any other blade except for chinese blades.

Summary: Basic, but good.
July 14th, 2003
Of all the non-FIE dry foils I have used or had around the club, these are among the best. They are much more durable than most of the cheaper Chinese blades, and they have solid balance and handling that is very neutral and easy to use. They make great foils for beginning fencers, or for a target and training blade for them more advanced fencer.

The main draw back that I have found is that the blades rust very easy. I have not been able to keep them tarnish free for more than two weeks, even if they are just sitting around! I have also found that the threading on the tang is not friendly with some of the grip nuts I have used, but this may be the fault of the nut in question and not the blade itself.

Overall a good, solid blade that is exactly what you would expect it to be. In that respect it is an excellent value, and worthwhile over many other beginner blades.

Summary: Durable practice blade
July 4th, 2003
I've been watching three of these blades "in play" for the last 4 months. One is with an intermediate fencer -- she loves it. One is used daily to give lessons -- light! And one is a club weapon abused by new fencers -- rugged. These are nice practice blades, with no problems yet. They are not rust-resistant, and rust spots appear quickly if you store them with your sweaty clothes.

Pros: Flexible but not whippy, keeps a curve, long-lasting

Cons: Rapid rust spots if not cared for.
