Uhlmann FIE Mask - 1600N

This mask is great. It seems solid, and it's comfortable to wear. I have only 3 complaints.



1. The elastic band in back is WAY too small. Now I have to shell out $7 for a bigger one.



2. I heard that the shell is made in China, NOT Germany. Needless to say this was a let down.



3. The '07 Mask doesn't have the FIE tag on the side of the bib. I thought that those really looked cool. It's not a big deal, but still...



I have yet to put this mask through it's paces, but if it holds up well, I may forgive the fact that its shell was made in China. I think I would have been better off with the LP FIE, but it was just too expensive after the rest of my FIE stuff.

I will update this review once I have put my mask through more strenuous tests.

This mask is safe, durable and of the upmost quality. It offers protection comparable to any other FIE mask. It has a contour fit to the head and offers every aspect of protection and comfort.

by far the most comfortable masks are Uhlmanns. they may cost a little more but they seem a lot more solid than most masks and have all the right padding in the right places. the forehead pad keeps hair from falling in your eyes (should you have long hair). and black trim looks so much better than the white trim you see on other masks. A+

This mask is one of the nicer masks i have seen, has a large bib that wraps around the sides more than some of the others, bib is well padded for the hard shots to the neck, and a strong mesh. i have not experienced any problems with ths mask.

This mask has a great fit. It stays in place without being restrictive or uncomfortable. Unlike my first mask, the mesh on the Uhlmann is a good distance from my face. I purchased this mask four years ago after my old one was crushed to my face. It has taken a lot of hard shots without any dents to show for it.



I have full confidence putting my face in this mask!

This is the best fitting mask for me. I am very comfortable in a tight-fitting one, which I feel gives me the best level of protection from not only the rare sharp point, but also the occasional bell-punch. The new masks have a cloth tape sewn around the edge where the fabric meets the mesh, making them much safer and hopefully more durable than the former design (which had a rubber "gasket" that would pop up and catch a point).

This is the FIE mask sold by a lot of vendors. The mask provides a very high level of protection with 1600N bib and the tongue on the back enables you to adjust the fit of the mask so that you can have it as tight as you want.



Over time the fabric on the inside of the bib wears away (5 o'clock shadow casualty), but that doesn't hamper the performance (protection) of the bib.



I've had one of these masks squashed out of shape and then bent back and it still passed the punch test (safety test) in all of the areas where the mesh was stressed.
