Summary: Light but boxy

This is a nice, super light lame' with everything in the right place. Its a lot cooler compared to SS. I use it for competitions only.

The big minus on this jacket is the fit! If you are over a women's 36, you get a man's jacket. Now, we aren't built the same and even with giving them every dimension of my frame (twice!) I did not get a good-fitting jacket in the end. It's OK, but there is still a lot of extra fabric. Bottom line: good for men, not good for women.

Summary: go with Stainless
August 12th, 2003
These work, are cheap, and are light. Despite TCA's claim they DON'T last as long as stainless steel. After a couple of years mine starting registering ~8 ohms throughout, making it great for practice but useless for competition. I now have a stainless Uhlmann lame, I'd suggest the same for others.

Summary: Looks Don't Matter
July 17th, 2003
I got this because I was just too hot in a regular lame, and this lame is much lighter, thinner, breathes better and dries faster. I've washed it lots of times and it keeps on conducting. The fabric itself seems quite durable, I have gotton no snags or tears in almost a year's use.

Thats all the good news.

The down side is the cut is terrible. The shape is... shapeless. I'm not shaped like a box or a cylinder, but this lame is. If you can try them on in person you have a better chance though, 'cause the labeled size has little to do with the fit. Might work if you have a beer belly - but won't if you're shaped more like an athlete. I had mine professionally tailored for about $20, which is about the difference in price for the upgrade to the version with an elastic panel.

Every one I've seen on a person in a tournament looks loose and baggy. Perhaps this is on purpose to prevent them from tearing - or to provide the "illusion" of target, only to hit billowing fabric when the point arrives. This lame is about 1" longer in height (covering my hip bone) than a generic SS lame from another vendor.
