Summary: avoid these
August 12th, 2003
Low quality points. Even worse than the low quality, Prieur can't even be consistent. They (as do all other manufacturers) go out for bid each year and select the low cost supplier. They are considerably worse than most other "manufacturers" and making sure that year-to-year equipment is the same. Just in the past few years they've made three different (non-interoperable) lengths of tip screws and five different diameter springs. NOT what you're looking for when buying parts and hoping that they'll work with any of the rest or your equipment.

Summary: You get what you pay for

namely, not much! Last year I lost 4 Prieur tips, true, I beat on my equipment quite a bit (many flick actions and such), but the tips are just not durable enough.

However they are good to start with, as they are some of the cheapest tips out there!

Summary: Use and Lose
July 9th, 2003
The only points that I've found to be worse are the standard Russian points.

The barrels are thin, the tip face is a small diameter and the plastic collar breaks easily. The only thing going for these is the low cost.

You'll find that this is the point used for many of the "economy" electric foil kits. Go ahead and pay to upgrade the point, because you'll want those touches back at the end of your first tournament.

The only positive on these points is that the screws are counter-sunk, so you won't have the "mashed screw" problems that plague the Uhlmann points.
