Summary: Not legal for FIE Competitions
February 5th, 2010

Both the FIE and the IOC have ruled this illegal because of the stripes.  They are a logo that is too large.  Way too large.

If you want to spend a whole lot of money for something that you can't use for FIE competition, go for it.

Summary: Pricy...

Cool... Just like Allstar's Startex uniform, but I don't think the Adidas stripes make it reasonable to have double price. Even if they come in our national colours.

Summary: pricey uniform
July 12th, 2003
This uniform is actually the same uniform as Uhlmann's top of the line FIE uniform, with patches that say Adidas, and good looking black stripes on the sides of the legs and arms.

I bought this one at a point where I needed a new uniform, and spending a little more money on fencing wasn't going to kill my budget.

I also thought that I might make Adidas some bucks to support the fact that I was happy to see a big sport brandname to create fencing equipment.

It is a great looking uniform, although some people who prefer only white uniforms might not like it.

The material is very solid and a little on the thick side, so it gives you a little more comfort and you feel a little more secure than with a more thinner fabric. While being thick, it still is very flexible and you don't feel like your movements are impaired by the thickness. The other nice thing about this material is that it breathes very well and you don't get too hot.

One thing that I don't like is the inside of the sword arm has a double lining inside, supposedly here to catch a blade that would penetrate the outer layer. It might be true, but I felt a little weird the first time I was fencing with it, I thought that my shoulder was a little more clumsy with it. I got used to it quickly though.

The zipper is solid and won't break appart, the back ring with which you hook up to the reel is solid, and overall the quality is nice.

Finally, the stripes that make this uniform's uniqueness don't really hold up too well to a couple of washings, the color fades out quickly, but then after the first washings it pretty much stays the same.

I don't think I would recommend it though, unless you have too much money to spend on fencing. Really it is the same as Uhlmann's top model, but you basically pay the price of the Adidas tag, and the uniform is therefore a little expensive. Of course, if you have to have those cool stripes going down your legs and arms, then by all means go for it!
