Fleche Y-shape S-2000 regulation sabre blade

Product Details
The Fleche Y S 2000 is the first step into high end blades where the basic shape of the blades is refined to give better balance. It is thicker at the base to center the weight of the saber in the hand. The Y refers to the shape of the middle of the blades after steel has been scooped off either side to reduce over all weight and especially point-heaviness. The Fleche Y with its better balance retains its form faithfully in spite of the hard knocks of heavy fencing.

I've gotten to play with two different Y-shaped blades.
I'm impressed. I really didn't think that the Y-section would make a noticable difference. I was wrong. Much lighter and easier to control than a rectangular blade. I expected it to be whippier than it was, but most of the stiffness in the blade is retained. Control was precise enough, even with point action. (hey, foil habits die hard) I still haven't been able to play with the blades enough to determine how durable they will be. But I'm looking forward to the opportunity.
Bottom line: a nice step up, and not frighteningly expensive.
