This is the United States' first ever medal in the women's foil discipline. The United States women's foil team will fight Russia for the gold medal after they held on to defeat Hungary 35-33. Russia won a controversial call in overtime of their match to advance 22-21 over Italy. Italy will face Hungary for the bronze.

France thrashed an overmatched Polish team by a score of 45 to 29 in the Men's Team Epee final. Brothers Jerome and Fabrice Jeannet celebrated their 2nd team gold in 2 Olympics as France also won the Gold medal in this event in 2004. Italy would take the Bold medal with a 45-35 victory over China.
