For the first time in history, New Zealand will be represented in Fencing at the Olympic Games by a woman. Jessica Beer who hails from Auckland won the Asia/Oceania Olympic Zone Qualifying competition held in Manila in April. She has qualified for the epee event. This is the first time in twelve years that New Zealand has had a competitor in the Fencing category.
