An important meeting of the SEMI FIE will take place on April 30th in Milan, Italy to evaluate the adoption of the "Mangiarotti tip" which is designed to prevent flick hits. This tip was approved in the FIE General Assembly and is being presented as an alternative to the recent changes of the impact times for foil, changes which were also approved by the general assembly. The following people will be present at this meeting: Ioan Pop, FIE International Technical Director, Arthur Cramer, member and representative of the FIE EC to the International Refereeing Commission, Josč Eduardo Correia Dos Santos, President of the International SEMI Commission, Julius Kralik, FIE member responsible for the organization of tournaments, Edoardo Mangiarotti, host and inventor of the above named "tip" and President of the FIE Disciplinary Commission, Marcello Baiocco, President of the FIS SEMI Commisssion, and Giorgio Scarso, President of the Italian federation.

Fencers stepping on the strip will be Andrea Cassarą, Iacopo Inverardi, Lorenzo Mammi, and Martino Minuto.

This technical and practical meeting has the scope to verify whether the adoption of the "Mangiarotti tip" will effectively and efficiently allow only for a touch with the point and become an alternative to the new impact times already adopted.  According to members of the FIS (Italian Fencing Federation), the two solutions [Mangiarotti tip and changes in impact times] are in fact mutually exclusive.
