China's Su Wanwen beat her compatriot Ma Na to clinch the women's individual foil title and another Chinese Zhu Jun knocked out Thailand's Panchan Nontapat to win the men's individual foil crown.

On Wednesday, China's Tan Li and Japan's Harada Megumi won the gold and silver medal respectively for women's individual epee andSouth Korea's Kim Won Jin and Kazakhstan's Sergey Shabalin triumphed in men's category.

The championships slated for April 21-26 features more than 400fencers from 23 countries and regions.

In the Asia/Oceania Olympic qualifying competitions held on April 19-20, eight Olympic berths had been booked by Chinese Hong Kong (3), Japan (3), Thailand (1) and New Zealand (1).

Hong Kong won the tickets for women's sabre, women's and men's foil, with Japan women's, men's sabre and women's foil, Thailand men's epee and New Zealand women's epee.
