Prescod and Kiefer take Gold and Bronze at the Cadet World Championships

Nzingha Prescod dominated her opponents in the preliminary rounds and held her #1 seed through the direct eliminations to win the gold medal at the 2008 Cadet World Championships for women's foil.  En route she defeated teammate Lee Kiefer 12-11 before dispatching Russia's Maya Kokoulina by a 15-13 score in the final.

Kiefer finished tied for 3rd with Hungarian Regina Binet.  These were the first medals for the US fencers in the Cadet events.

All of the finals were contested using the new wireless scoring systems which eliminate the reels at the end of the strip.

Fencing continues this week with the Junior World Championship events, starting off with Men's Foil and Women's Sabre on April 9th.  These events continue through to April 14th.
