Run by UNC alums Jennifer Oldham Cox and Matthew Cox, Mid South Fencers Club focuses on getting new fencers ready for competition level fencing. Jennifer was recently Assistant Coach to Maestro Ed Korfanty, US National Coach, at Oregon Fencing Alliance in Portland, Oregon and Matthew is an active sabre referee at USFA national events.

Mid-South Fencers’ Club was founded on the basis of providing an environment that enables fencers to develop to their fullest fencing potential. To accomplish these goals MSFC incorporates the basic principles of honoring independent development of coordination, focus, self-discipline, competitive desire while at the same time maintaining respect and reverence for the self, community and others.

In January Mid-South Fencers' Club will be opening the doors on a brand-new dedicated fencing facility in historic Durham, NC. with six full-sized electric strips, armory and changing rooms, our new gymnasium will be the only one of it's kind in the state of North Carolina.

The facility is located at 1104 Broad Street, in the heart of the historic Watts-Hillandale neighborhood. One block south of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, Mid-South is taking part in the urban renewal that is making Durham one of the most exciting places to be in the Southeastern United States. Check back frequently to see updates on our remodel, as well as pictures of the newly remodeled facility.

The Mid-South Fencers' Club will celebrate it's Grand Opening weekend with the first tournament in it's new fencing gymnasium, located in the heart of Durham, NC. The weekend will include three sabre events on Saturday, January 5th, and both Open Mixed Foil and Open Mixed Epee on Sunday the 6th.
